Episode #8: CHEAPR

On May 19, Governor Malloy announced the Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR), a new rebate program for electric vehicles. Connecticut residents, businesses, and municipalities can get a point-of-sale rebate of up to $3,000 on battery electric vehicles, fuel cell electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The governor has allocated $1 million (from a 2012 utility merger settlement) to fund the program, which is expected to last through the summer of 2015.
